"Always make sure your artists are aware of their monies and business. Most artists are content to let managers deal with the financial side of things, but they must realize that they are business people, too, and that it behooves them to always understand what is happening with their money. As a correlate to this, always keep a degree of separation between yourself as manager and those designated to oversee the fiscal records. It is beneficial to both artist and manager that the artist deals with a business manager, or an in-house accountant, rather than their manager when it comes to day-to-day business operations. As a final piece of advice: when you've got good news and bad news, always deliver the bad news first. If there isn't any good news - find some."
Possessing a rare blend of artistic passion, creativity and business savvy, Gilles Paquin has been involved with the North American arts and entertainment industry for over 30 years as a manager, promoter, producer and entrepreneur. President and CEO of the Paquin Entertainment Group, Mr. Paquin personally manages legendary icons Randy Bachman, Buffy Sainte-Marie and Bachman & Turner, as well as critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Del Barber. In addition, world-renowned illusionist Darcy Oake has recently been added to the Paquin roster. Mr. Paquin supports, oversees and directs each artist's creative ventures, including the production of Randy Bachman's television special, Vinyl Tap: Every Song Tells a Story; a live concert special/3D production shot at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City for Bachman & Turner, an in-studio concert special with Bachman-Cummings entitled First Time Around and a bio-documentary for Buffy Sainte-Marie. Upcoming ventures include worldwide new album releases for both Randy Bachman and Buffy Sainte-Marie, Del Barber's Australian tour and a UK television special as well as Canadian and European tours for Darcy Oake. In 1985 Mr. Paquin founded Paquin Artists Agency, which has since gone on to become one of Canada's premier entertainment agencies, and in 2004 launched Koba Entertainment, focusing on large-scale family-oriented theatrical productions. More recently, Paquin Entertainment's film and theatre division launched the successful cinematic production "Moulin Rouge - The Ballet" in movie theatres worldwide. As a manager, Mr. Paquin brings a wealth of prior expertise in the entertainment field to his day-to-day operations. Over the years, he has cultivated strong relationships with his artists, guiding and supporting their endeavours while always keeping their best interests as his primary focus.
