SOUND ADVICE: MUSIC MANAGEMENT

Workshop to  take place on Saturday November 26

Toronto, Ontario – October 31, 2011 –On November 26, MMF Canada will be returning to Manitoba Music in Winnipeg, for a workshop and showcase. Artist management is an all-encompassing discipline:  this workshop will address the many different types of artist/manager relationships and the panellists will share their experiences in navigating the challenges of both creative and career development in today’s changing industry.  As part of Manitoba Music’s Music Works series, Sound Advice: Artist Management will give Manitoba Music members a chance to meet and greet some of the top independent artist managers in Canada today.

Building Careers and International Legacies to take place September 22nd

Last year at POP Montreal, MMF presented Building Artists, Building Managers – an informative discussion that focused on the first 3 years of an artist’s career. This year, Building Careers and International Legacies will explore the choices a manager should make  to bring their artist to the international stage. Participants will discuss the challenges and issues that managers and their artists face in an interactive roundtable format.

The MMF Management Panel to take place on April 17th

The ECMAs are off to Charlottetown this year from April 13-17, 2011 and once again The MMF Canada will be participating by sponsoring a panel discussion.  MMF Canada presents: The Artist Manager, Do I Really Need You? on Sunday April 17th at 2:00 pm in the Valient Room at the Delta. This comprehensive interactive session is aimed at all levels of music industry representatives, managers and self-managed artists. Share in the insights and experiences of top industry professionals and learn the ropes and tools of the trade to advance your career.

For Artists – when do you need a manager? And what qualities should you look for in a manager?
For Managers- what qualities should you look for in an artist?  How can you tell when an artist is ready for a manager?
